Topic: Is it necessary for police to shoot center of mass when other options are available?
More Specific:
1. A large amount of people claim that shooting the criminal in the leg is a safer option for everyone.
2.I disagree because it puts the officers safety in danger and the people the officer is trying to protect in danger.
Forming Arguable Sentences
1. The person may be drugged and not shooting center of mass increased the persons ability to hurt or kill officer
2. The reaction time of a police officer is not fast enough to shoot at fast moving limbs like legs and arms they shoot center of mass because it is effective and fast
3. shooting at limbs increases the chances of a bullet going though and causing more damage to bystanders
4. Impossible to know weather officers intend to hit the body or limbs. Missed shots can be accidental and hit other parts of the body.
6. When an officer is in danger and stressed his accuracy is significantly less efficient and forcing officers to hit a smaller target puts their life in danger because the criminal is shooting to kill and the officer has to limit his target area.
Thesis: People who criticize the police methods about shooting the center of mass are misguided because those tactics are taught to police officers are the most safe and effective way to protect their life from an unfortunate situation.
